Challenge #3 - Tree Adventures

Sometimes it pays to ask....

During the school holidays I often volunteer on church camps for young people aged 10 - 16 years old. In April we spent a day at Tree Adventures in Woodhill Forest. It was a FANTASTIC day of climbing trees, maneuvering through obstacles suspended many metres above the ground, encouraging and supporting girls through the courses... and facing some physical and mental challenges of my own (after hours of clambering and climbing, Level 8 felt significantly high for my now slightly-quivering muscles, headache, and mometary feelings of dizziness).

Of course, the entire time I'm thinking,  "this would be GREAT for the WPCA program!"

So I touched base with the Tree Adventures team and discovered they had a great package for schools. It was exciting to be able to offer this to the Pikelets, and we were in much anticipation for Friday 14 June.

The day turned out to be even better than we expected :)

Highlights for me were...

Having Mr Davis come along... and seeing him up in the trees with the Pikelets!

Re-doing Level 8 and finding it much easier
than last time. A great reminder
that pressing through challenges makes us stronger
to face the next one.

The "grazing" table - having snacks on-the-go all day kept the energy up and allowed us to spend more time in the trees... and the supplies the Pikelets brought along were delicious :)

Jumping out of the trees onto the ziplines

The banter and laughter and shouts of fun echoing through the forest
from the moment we arrived  (breaking the peaceful quiet) until the moment we left!

The enthusiasm of this Pikelet team has to be seen to be believed! I love how they take on the outdoor physical challenges! I noted some lovely demonstrations of compassion and teamwork as they maneuvered through the courses...

culminating in the whole lot of us trekking through Level 8 together.

I was certainly a little tired at the end of the day.... but that sense of pride and satisfaction after a day in the outdoors is a great way to finish the week!
